Admission Procedure

Application deadline for Autumn intake of study year 2024/2025 is July 1, 2024

If you have decided to proceed with studies in Rezekne Academy of Technologies, you should follow the following steps. In case of any questions or for request of additional information, you should contact the foreign student advisor international@rta.lv

Step 1: Online application

The following documents should be uploaded to the system:

• Duly completed and signed RTA application form for admission
• Legally certified copies of an official diplomas (with Apostille) and transcript of records from every institution attended with legally certified translations
• Receipt certifying payment of application fee* 100 EUR, which is non-refundable
• Official certificate of English language knowledge
• Copy of passport (all pages)
• One photo 3cm x4 cm;
• Motivation letter
• Curriculum Vitae (Europass)

Step 2. Evaluation of documents

RTA will evaluate received application (within 3 working days) and if the application is eligible, the Applicant will receive Conditional acceptance letter. After, the applicant’s education documents will be sent for academic recognition to the National Academic Information Centre (AIC) (www.aic.lv), academic recognition of education documents could take in average about 1 month.

Step 3. Entrance tests and interview

While waiting for the academic recognition of education diplomas, the applicants are invited to take the test of Mathematics (just for Bachelors) and/or English (if requested).

English test if required for those who cannot provide International English language certificate or evidence that the previous studies have been obtained in English.

The applicants will be invited for online interview to test their motivation for studies.

Step 4. Preparation and signing acceptance documents by RTA and the applicant

After the academic recognition is received from AIC (www.aic.lv), RTA will send to the applicant the documents

• Admission letter
• Study agreement
• Copy of AIC approval
• Letter of accommodation

By singing the study agreement, the applicant confirms that they agree with conditions of studies in RTA. At this point study fee for the first year and safety deposit for accommodation shall be transferred to RTA account*.

Step 5. Application for entrance visa

The foreign students advisor requires invitation of visa in the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA) of the Republic of Latvia. After receiving confirmation of invitation of OCMA (becomes valid in 2 days), foreign students advisor sends invitation number to applicant.

After receiving invitation number, the applicant appoints the visit and submits in the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia the following documents:

• 1. Invitation letter of RTA
• 2. Valid travel document (passport)
• 3. An application form filled out and signed (www.pmlp.gov.lv)
• 4. Photo 3x4 cm
• 5. Document of evidence subsistence (bank statement) for one year (min 500 EUR/month)
• 6. Legalized statement on criminal record (police clearance) issued by a competent institution of the citizenship or the host country (for a foreigner more than 14 years old), if a foreigner has resided in that country longer than 12 months
• 7. Accommodation letter (document confirming student’s accommodation address in Latvia) received in Step 4 of application process
• 8. Study agreement received and signed in Step 4 of application process
• 9. Copy of AIC approval
• 10. Payment order of State fee (www.pmlp.gov.lv).

The applicants are invited for the interviews to the respective Embassy of the Republic of Latvia. In the case of positive decision, the applicant travels to Latvia to proceed with studies.

IF the final decision is Negative, then RTA in 10 working days reimburses to applicant study fee of the first study year and safety deposit (transaction expenses is non-refundable) after receiving REFUND REQUEST FORM.

Step 6. Arrival and application for residence permit in Latvia

Within first 7 days after arrival in Latvia, in a cooperation with the foreign students advisor of RTA, the student applies for resident permit in the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs PMLP). Student shall present a valid travel document (passport) admitted in the Republic of Latvia and submit the following documents:

• Statement on fluorography or x-ray examining results;
• Document confirming that the applicant has a health insurance policy;
• State duty payment receipts for the examination of submitted documents.

Currency exchange or bank collection fees are the responsibility of the applicant.
Application fee is not refundable.
